4-H Ruby Star Information

 

Ruby Star Program

PURPOSE:  The purpose of the Ruby Star Program is to provide leadership opportunities to 4-H members who wish to share his/her skills and knowledge in any area of 4-H to help others. The Ruby Star Program focuses on planning and evaluation skills, carrying out assignments, and working on a countywide or broader basis.  Ruby Star projects should generally be on a level above and beyond te type of leadership plans used for Emerald Star projects.

ELIGIBILITY:  Members who have completed three years of 4-H and currently in the 4th year of 4-H.  Will be at least 14 years of age by December 31 of the current 4-H year.  Have successfully completed an Emerald Star Project.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:  Ruby Star projects must demonstrate the member's leadership ability, the ability to work with others, and the ability to plan and conduct a successful program of work.  The project must have an adult advisor and must provide service to the Kings County 4-H program.  See the Ruby Star Guidelines for further information on the requirements.

 September  Applicants submit a plan for their Ruby Star Project.

Projects should be completed during the current club year.  

 

September  Entrance applications for Ruby Star projects are accepted.

November  Ruby Star Committee will accept reports (both written and oral) from those candidates who have completed their projects and grant the Ruby Star rank to those who have met the requirements.  Also in November, new applicants may apply for projects they can complete by March.

January  Ruby Star Committee will accept reports (both written and oral) from those candidates who have completed their projects and grant the Ruby Star rank to those who have met the requirements.  Also in January, new applicants may apply for projects they can complete by March/April.

March/April   Ruby Star Committee will accept reports (both written and oral) from those candidates who have completed their projects and grant the Ruby Star rank to those who have met the requirements.

September/October  Receive your Ruby Star at County Achievement Night.
