All Star Selection Process
To apply for All Star Candidate
4-H members must:
Have completed 3 years of 4-H.(Must currently be in at least the 4th year)
Be 15 years of age as of December 31 of the current 4-H year.
Earned a Gold Star (at least by the end of the previous club year)
Hold the Emerald Star Rank
Letters will be sent to those members who qualify
Submit completed application materials

UCCE Office Multi Purpose Room
An overview of the All Star Candidate Application Procedure will be explained. Applications will be given out that evening to those that attend. If you are not able to attend and are interested in applying you must contact Georgene Diener, Program Representative at 852-2743 to make an appointment to review the process.
Requirements to Complete All Star Candidacy
Complete 8 of the 14 items below:
Attend State 4-H Leadership Conference
Coordinate planning and conducting of Achievement Night
Assist with planning and execution of Judging Day
Teach session and/or help plan LCORT
Assist with planning and execution of Presentation Day
Assist with execution of 4-H Fair
Visit three school classrooms to promote 4-H
Speak at two 4-H clubs other than your own
Visit at least one community organization to talk about 4-H
Plan and conduct Leader Recognition Dinner
Plan and carry out an All Star Project
Attend two 4-H Council Meetings this year
Assist with planning and execution of one additional county event.
Represent Kings County at a Sectional, Regional or State Event
Attend four of the six All Star Meetings
Appropriate dress is expected when serving as an All Star Candidate
ALL STAR CANDIDATE SELECTION SCORING
Leadership Experiences (40 Points)
Evidence as shown by committee service, holding an office, attending leadership training events (such as officer training, LCORT, State 4-H Conference, regional conferences, etc), Emerald Star project, Junior/Teen Leadership, leadership outside of 4-H, etc. At least 75% of the leadership shown should be in 4-H.
Understanding of 4-H Program (20 Points)
Be sufficiently familiar with the purpose, goals and benefits of 4-H to be able to represent the program accurately to new families, young members and the community.
Public Speaking (20 Points)
Past experiences with public speaking such as 4-H presentations and talks and other speeches outside of 4-H (5 points) Development and delivery of the Planned Talk given during the All Star selection process (10 points) Ability to respond to interview questions with ease and confidence (5 points)
General Level of Maturity and Readiness (20 Points)
Demeanor and attitude during the selection process that indicates the candidate truly wishes to be an All Star, understands the role and responsibilities and is ready to make All Star service a priority. Committee will be looking for an overall impression given through past experiences, interview behavior and dress that reflects a sense of enthusiasm and maturity.

Marion Brazil Memorial Scholarship Fund
Marion Brazil Memorial Scholarship is only available to Kings County All Stars.This scholarship is from the Marion Brazil Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in honor of Mr. Brazil by his wife in 1961.
You are eligible to receive the Brazil 4-H All Star Scholarship of $1,500 upon enrolling in your second full time term at an accredited college, university or trade school in California. You must be enrolled as a full-time student, defined as 12 quarter units or 15 semester units. Forms will be mailed to you from the UCCE Office.
You may apply to have your scholarship renewed next year provided you remain a full-time student and earn a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. Those forms will be sent to you next year if you accept the scholarship this year.
